Engineering companies account for more than one third of all settlements

If you are the SAM manager in an engineering company this calls for your attention. According to BSA 34% of all settlements are done with the engineering industry. Just another good reason for being in compliance.

The latest incident took place in Perth, Australia where an engineering company ended up paying € 50,000 in damages, as well as buying genuine software licenses.

“Software is a key productivity asset for engineering businesses and as such unlicensed software licenses carries substantial risks, not limited to malware and financial risks,” says Clayton Noble, BASA Australia Chair.

Even though the engineering industry still accounts for one third of all settlements this is actually an improvement. In 2012 the sector was responsible for over half the settlements.
